Sumary of Victoria records no new coronavirus cases or deaths:

  • Victoria has recorded no new coronavirus cases or deaths for the eleventh straight day, the state’s health department says..
  • DHHS commander of testing, Jeroen Weimar, said health officials were continuing to monitor coronavirus testing rates across the state, but said there were no plans to conduct a targeted testing blitz in any specific areas..
  • Mr Weimar said every local government area across Victoria was testing at least 1.5 per cent of its population every two weeks, and there was not currently a need for so-called “surge testing”.
  • “We’ll keep working with local organisations and schools to identify areas where if people want us to come and do more testing or we think we’ve got an area that’s underrepresented then we’ll be working with them to see what we can do,”.
  • The testing commander thanked Victorians for continuing to be vigilant, even when new case numbers had been at zero for more than a week..
  • Mr Weimar said there was still a possibility that coronavirus cases could emerge in small numbers over the coming weeks…
