Still in critical condition in a hospital is Marvin Hernandez, 22. Witnesses told investigators that the pickup truck was running at full speed when it negotiated a curved part of the national freeway near the boundary of Barangay Paciano and Barangay San Cristobal in Calamba City.
The Calamba City Police identified the fatalities as driver Jhomel Hernandez Licas, 26; and passengers Ruel Hernandez Dimailig; Jonel Hernandez, 29; Medel Hernandez, 32; and Angelo Hernandez, 24, who are all from Barangay San Roque, Tagkawayan, Quezon.
Because of its speed, the driver lost command of the car as it swerved in the opposite lane, almost hitting a motorcycle and a passenger jeepney before it turned upside down.
